Wayne, Pennsylvania (PA) Church - United Church of Christ at Valley Forge

National and International

• UCC/VF is a major supporter of OCWM (Our Church’s Wider Mission) for staff and programs to do mission at local, national, and international levels.

• UCC/VF contributes generously to all major UCC offerings, including Neighbors in Need and One Great Hour of Sharing.

• Junior and Senior High youth have performed mission trips to Puerto Rico, West Virginia and Maine. They have also sponsored the “Souper Bowl of Caring” the last two years and are active in local mission.

• Adult UCC/VF members have traveled to New Orleans the last three years to help with the UCC Katrina rehab program.

Local and Regional

• UCC/VF continues relationships with the homeless shelter of Old First UCC Church in Philadelphia, and with Bethany Children’s Home in Womelsdorf, PA. In both cases opportunities are taken to be in fellowship with the resident people, as well as to provide food, gifts, and financial support.

• A new group has recently formed called “Caring Crafters” to help those in need through the use of knitting, crocheting, sewing and general crafting skills. Initial projects included prayer shawls, and blankets and hats for premature babies at Einstein University Hospital in Philadelphia.

• The “Giving Tree” in our Gathering Area host about six different local mission efforts per year, most recently a Christmas campaign to provide 50 coats, 50 scarves, and 50 pairs of gloves to a local charity in honor of our 2010 50th anniversary.

• UCC/VF facilities are alive with activities of our wider community, serving as a township polling place, hosting such groups as the Children’s School of Cabrini College, Sally’s Music Circle, The Main Line Chinese Cultural Center’s summer camp, and the local branch of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).
